Joy of Faith, A Musical Gathering on Sunday June 13 at 3 pm

Joy of Faith is an annual Interfaith Musical Celebration. We are pleased to feature the soulful performances of 10 faith groups, videos that reflect the need for social distancing with family performers, a reflection on art, the Summer Solstice Powwow as it has been celebrated and Ramadan this 2021.

The program will be one hour in length.

How to Select a Discussion Group

1.      Look over the list of groups and choose the group you would like to attend.

2.      Add the number of the group as a prefix to your name. To do this:

a.       Click on participants icon seen at the bottom of the screen.

b.      Find your name.

c.       To the right of your name, there are two icons – mute and more.

d.      Click on more and select rename.

3.      Type the number of the group at the start of your name.  For example:
01 Jane Doe; 
02 Jane Doe or 
12 Jane Doe.

Gandhi's Birthday

It gives me great pleasure to invite, on behalf of the College of Humanities, Carleton University, members of CRIC, their colleagues, and friends to the celebration of the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It takes place on Saturday, October 5 at Carleton University. Details of the program are provided on the attached poster. This year is Gandhi's special birthday and the Mayor of the City of Ottawa is going to proclaim October 2 as the Gandhi Day.

As outlined in the poster, the celebration includes garlanding of the Gandhi Statue at Carleton, and a lecture on "Gandhi and Human Rights" by Prof. Vinay Lal of the University of California at Los Angeles. The lecture is followed by a short play on Gandhi's famous "Salt March", directed by Kathi Langston Director of the Ottawa School of Theatre.

Cleaning the Capital

This event is a part of the Cleaning the Capital initiative of the City of Ottawa. The Capital Region Interfaith Council will meet at Ken Steele Park at 1195 Ogilvie Rd at 6:30. We will clean up the park for a about an hour, which will be followed by a brief time of fellowship and refreshment. Feel free to come along and bring a friend to share in the work, fun and fellowship. Latex gloves, garbage bags and leaf collection bags will be supplied. Please feel free to bring along rakes, and work gloves if desired.

Monthly Meeting of Capital Region Interfaith Council

This is the monthly meeting of the Capital Region Interfaith Council. We meet to discuss various aspects of our religious traditions in the City of Ottawa and environs. We also review items of common concern and interest. This month we are hearing from MAP Reintegration. MAP stands for Mentorship, Aftercare and Presence. It is a service organization which seeks to come alongside offenders recently released from Prison in order to help them get on their feet and find stability again. The meeting location is still to be decided. Please check by another day for this information.
