It gives me great pleasure to invite, on behalf of the College of Humanities, Carleton University, members of CRIC, their colleagues, and friends to the celebration of the 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It takes place on Saturday, October 5 at Carleton University. Details of the program are provided on the attached poster. This year is Gandhi's special birthday and the Mayor of the City of Ottawa is going to proclaim October 2 as the Gandhi Day.
As outlined in the poster, the celebration includes garlanding of the Gandhi Statue at Carleton, and a lecture on "Gandhi and Human Rights" by Prof. Vinay Lal of the University of California at Los Angeles. The lecture is followed by a short play on Gandhi's famous "Salt March", directed by Kathi Langston Director of the Ottawa School of Theatre.
