Canada’s Truth & Reconciliation Journey: We can step together into an awareness that maybe unsettling information and thought-provoking TRC Reconciliation-in-Action specific Christian Churches and 94 Calls to Actions to be inclusive other faith groups & interfaith social justice groups.

NATIONAL CONVERSATION advancing Canadian reconciliation has been necessary increasing public awareness in the National Capital Region. The membership obtains own understanding about the land, the People, Indigenous perspective to the land and relationships. For instance, the urban Ottawa Indigenous population sustains cultures and languages.   

BACKGROUND

·         Spring 2015 There has been the social healing movement bridges many divides.  One of The Divide becomes between “us and them” colonial mindset.  Sectors of society within Ottawa Local and its global community within urban population and demographics.   Outaouais-Ottawa waterway, inter-provincial metropolis Gatineau-Ottawa.  This was the event of the Truth Reconciliation Interim Report delivered by the National Truth Reconciliation Commission.

Five (5) years later 2020:  Recognizing our CRIC learning that reconciling Christian perspectives to faith communities embraces Indigenous knowledge relationally. Now an ideal time provides virtual circles within CRIC leadership as pluralistic spiritual community to engaging wider community in Canadian society. 

PURPOSE

·         CRIC membership needs active learning to be interactive with Indigenous nations, Aboriginal Peoples First Nations, Metis and Inuit and aboriginal communities.  

·         Theme Identified: Land and The Relationships such as land acknowledgement and the individual.

·         Introduce Indigenous Circle that forms restorative nature and worldview knowledge system. A relational process initiates speaking and listening based on Anishinaabe traditions.

NEXT STEPS

1.       Introduce KAIROS Education about decolonizing concepts and engagements eg. virtual blanket exercise and teaching-sharing circle

2.       Teaching Video Doctrine of Discovery:  Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts (The People) Anglican Perspectives on the Land and Journeying Indigenous Peoples, European ancestry and Settlers.

3.       Schedule Circle Dialogues relating the Doctrine of Discovery video through Indigenous scholarship.

CONSENSUS: Accept the Doctrine Discovery and KAIROS Education Learning Plan moving towards TRC Recommendations
